The journey, unfolded.

  1. 01 Day

    Arrival

    Windhoek

Welcome to Namibia. On arrival at Hosea Kutako International Airport you are met by your SLM Safaris representative and transferred privately to your Windhoek hotel. Time to settle in, recover from your flight, and prepare for the journey ahead.

  2. 02 Day

    Northbound

    Windhoek → Etosha

An early start as we head north through the central highlands toward Etosha National Park. Lunch en route, with arrival at your Etosha Safari Lodge by late afternoon — in time for sundowners with elevated views over the bush.

  3. 03 Day

    Etosha South

    Etosha National Park

A full day of game drives along the southern waterholes of Etosha. Lion, elephant, giraffe, oryx, and the endangered black rhino all draw close to water during the dry months. Return to lodge for dinner under the stars.

  4. 04 Day

    West to Damaraland

    Etosha → Twyfelfontein

Travel west into Damaraland — one of the most dramatic, ancient landscapes on earth. Check in at Twyfelfontein Adventure Camp, your base for exploring this remote region.

  5. 05 Day

    Desert Elephants

    Damaraland

A full day tracking the desert-adapted elephants that move through the dry riverbeds of the Huab and Aba-Huab. Afternoon visit to the UNESCO-listed rock engravings at Twyfelfontein, some over 6,000 years old.

  6. 06 Day

    South to Waterberg

    Damaraland → Waterberg

A scenic drive south to the Waterberg Plateau, a sandstone massif rising abruptly from the plains. Check in to Waterberg Wilderness Lodge for two nights of cooler air, hiking trails, and birdlife.

  7. 07 Day

    Plateau Day

    Waterberg

Optional guided hike onto the plateau, or simply rest at the lodge. The Waterberg is home to several rare and endangered species including sable, roan antelope, and white rhino.

  8. 08 Day

    Departure

    Waterberg → Windhoek

Final breakfast at the lodge before the drive back to Windhoek. Drop-off at Hosea Kutako International Airport in time for your departing flight.

When to come.

Namibia is a year-round destination, but each season offers something different. Here's what to expect when planning your safari — and what each window is best for.

May — Aug
Cool & Dry

Peak game-viewing season. Days are warm, nights cold. Animals concentrate around waterholes. Ideal for wildlife and photography.

Sep — Oct
Hot & Dry

The best wildlife months — Etosha's pans are at their busiest. Days are very hot. Book early as lodges fill up.

Nov — Apr
Green Season

The wet months. Lush landscapes, dramatic skies, fewer crowds, lower rates. Birding is exceptional. Some roads can be tricky.

Year-round
Sossusvlei

The desert can be visited any time. Cooler months are most comfortable, but the dunes are spectacular year-round.
